Nope. I average a trip every 4 or 5 months, but even when I'm here on months on end I rarely spend a ton of time in the parks, and when I do I go and do things I like, and then hit Universal and Sea World and the beaches. I would say on my long stays I only go to the parks 2 times a week if that.

And when I do come for just vacation I'm done everything in the parks in 6 days. I can't imagine spending more than that without getting bored.

You get better and more varied dining options. Enjoying nice meals is a bigger part of the theme park experience there.

The Disney hotels, for the most part, are more resort like. You can spend a day or afternoon just enjoying your hotel. Anaheim only has a few upscale Disney-owned hotels, and they're too pricey for many visitors.

DisneyWorld has that sense of immersion, a certain "magic", all of which is hard to quantify, but many people cite it.

There's plenty to criticise about WDW, and it's always easier to complain than praise. I'm sure most people criticize because they love the place, and want it to be better.

I love both North American Disney resorts, and both are worth visiting for the various strengths each has over the other.

Go to one of the water parks. I'd chill out at my hotel by the pool maybe enjoy a few cocktails. Hop on the bus, boat or monorail and visit some of the other hotels.

Before my parents moved to FL, we used to visit about every 18 months and we would stay for 2 weeks at a time. When you are flying from the West Coast, you end up wasting a day on each end with "the plane ride that never ends." So we always wanted to make sure the trip was worth it. Still, it never seemed like enough time. There is main park time, water park time. My Dad and I collect pressed pennies, so that meant going to each of the resorts. We would rent a car for one day and then visit the CM stores for souvenir shopping. We would also take one day and do a backstage tour. Plus, we would actually spend time at our resort.

DAR, that's how I like to enjoy WDW.

That would be true if one doesn't care to set foot off-property. Me, I'm at the point where a Disney-only vacation isn't really that satisfactory.

We spent 23 nights there on our last trip.

When you come from Australia, it's one of your lifelong dreams and you have no idea when you'll be backm you want to spend AS MUCH time there as possible.

I can understand when you live ten minutes away, have become a jaded guest who pops in after work for a coffee or, eben worse, you work there that the place kinda loses some appeal.

Add to that the fact we spent time at Universal, SW and KSC and Orlando itself was INCREDIBLE!!!!

It is very easy. Do some cruising, do some resort-hopping, visit Harry Potter, rent a boat, visit with friends, plus, they do have bars in WDW...

and my default kick back to that question: One does not need to blindly accept and love everything the company does to be a fan. In fact IMO the biggest fans are the ones to laud the true achievements and raise eyebrows and question the lackluster and poor offerings that happen.

Not everything the company does is great, good or even acceptable and blindly accepting everything as wonderful means you no longer holding the company to the highest standard and instead become a "defender of mediocracy"

So yeah I go cause I love it- but I also know it has its flaws and is no where near perfect.

There's a whole group of Magical people who need to learn how to think that way.

    Awesome post, em. :)

Perfect post, and basically half the reason I complain.

The other half is that I've seen too much ignoring of the company's core traditions and blatant disrespect for the man that started it while I'm working for me to be completely okay with the way WDW is being run.

Can you please tell Lou Mongello that?
