    Ain't gonna work.

The size of these groups gave them a substantial impact on the Prop. 8 outcome: White evangelicals comprised 17 percent of the electorate, Catholics comprised 30 percent, and Republicans comprised 29 percent.<<

Darkbeer's argument is nothing more than a ploy to deflect the blame from the real segment of California voters that overwhelmingly supported Prop 8: conservative Christians.

After a while, you're left with little choice but to wonder if they even read what the other side has to say or if they're all truly clueless, hardcore bigots, or both. For the millionth time, this will come down to the courts, making it ultimately a legal issue for which one will need legal arguments. Raising such issues as here, pitting gays against blacks, is a spin off of the "will of the people" empty mantra, as "the will of the people" can't vote in something that's unconstitutional. If all you've got is "will of the people" in court, you're in trouble.

So why start yet another gay marriage thread? Why, unless one is truly clueless, ask why anti-Prop 8 is targeting religious groups? Did the OP even pay attention during the campaign? Yes on 8 all about legislating a religious morality and was almost entirely funded by either certain religions or affiliated groups. Can even the OP say with a straight face there were no lies told in the Yes on 8 ads that targeted other religious groups (lies about marriage being taught, etc>)?

Our society is ever evolving and changing. The last significant layer of discrimination we peeled off was segregation. It's now time for gay equality. Lead, follow, or get out of the way.
