If anything the earliest we'll see a GSM+CDMA iPhone is with the 5th generation. I get perfect 3G coverage in Disneyland on my iPhone just not inside IAJ but I don't think anyone gets coverage in there.

I'm thinking of writing a nasty gram since I did pay for it.

The iPhone is coming off exclusive with AT&T and it has already been speculated by credible industry insiders that ALL carriers would get teh iPhone in 2010. Yes, that includes CDMA. Some of the posters here act like that is some sort of big deal....uh, no, it's just a new radio on a new frequency...it's already done and has been for a long time. CDMA does NOT have 2 years. It will NOT be replaced by 4G...apples and oranges. 4G will be data and video just like EVDO-A is now. VOIP over 4G will be later and it won't be better for the customer than GSM or CDMA. The estimates I see are 10-15 more years for CDMA.

The day before the iPad was announced, it was practically a done deal that it was going to be on Verizon's network - if you believed "credible industry sources." So much so that when Steve Jobs announced Apple would continue their partnership with AT&T, there was a very audible gasp from the audience at his keynote address. I'm more than familiar with the differences between CDMA technology, GSM, and upcoming LTE. No need to act like everyone else is an idiot - there's a few of us here on LP that work in the industry.

It's really up to AT&T to work with the local government to provide another cell tower. But chances are they'll just roll out their 4G network which should give better coverage and not get bogged down as much (I have the same problem - signal's fine, but speeds get slow). It's in DL's best interest to have good coverage for multiple carriers, so I don't think they'd want one preferred network, even as they sign exclusivity agreements for apps, etc. But that's all just my assumptions
