I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and everything. Love the books and the movies. But is it smart to invest all your upgrades and new additions on one movie franchise? Sure it's a big one, but in 10 years from now, will it still be as big of a drawl? What about in 20 years? After the movies have all been out on DVD for years, will it still be as appealing to so many?

Well before Potter 2.0 opens they will open Despicable me, Hollywood Drive In Mini Golf, a new highly themed water park called WonderSea Island, and another un-named state of the art E-Ticket in the Studios park.

Universal spent $265 Million on the original WWoHP. Who knows how much they will spend on the expansion, but how does that compare to Disney dumping $400 Million on the Cars franchise. How popular will Cars be in 10 years? 20 Years?

Is it possible to answer a legitimate question about WWoHP without bringing up Disney? Non-answers like this reek of inferiority complex.

Whether it is or not, I will go out on a limb here and predict that Carsland will still be very popular 20 years from now.

(And I believe that Harry Potter will still be VERY popular 50 years from now.)

And your sensitivity to the comparisons reeks of an inferiority complex. I think when questioning whether it is smart to put that much money into potter, comparing it to Disney putting more money into a lesser franchise like Cars is valid.

Granted, I have no idea how long something like WWoHP or Carsland would need to remain popular for it to payoff to Uni and Disney and be deemed "worth it", but if something falls from popularity it is much easier to replace a ride than an entire section of the park.

However, even if the Cars franchise does lose popularity in the coming years, it seems that the area and attractions in the area are more generally themed and could be enjoyed without even knowing about the movie.

And not that WWoHP is totally unlikw that, it just seems a bit more heavily themed to the movies in particular.

The main E ticket in Carsland will probably be popular even among those that dislike the movie. But is the main E ticket in WWoHP the same? If you never saw the movies, would that ride make sense?

I see. There will be no answer to the question.

My guess is there WILL be more books which means there WILL BE more movies.

HP is one of those game-changing franchises that redefines childhoods for whole generations, much like Star Wars changed life for me as a seven year old when it premiered.

There aren't too many of those(indeed, about once every generation or two)but I can see HP having a very lasting impact.

So no Harry Potter and the Wizard Wars animated series. Although, JK Rowling does have the Pottermore website coming online soon, that will have new content. And there will likely be more books, and probably corresponding movies.

That depends on if it's a Southern drawl or a New England drawl.

Oh SGV, you are such a dipthong. You forgot to mention California English which is also charaterized as a drawl.

It is when you only have a few big franchises to choose from. Like Star Tours, Uni doesn't own HP but has a licence to use the stories at the IOA theme park. They have a hot potato in their hands and they'd be pretty dumb not to exploit (your favorite word!) the properties as much as possible.

    I'd rather have a Luna 1,2 & 3.
