"Of course because it fits with your "substandard" comments about the whole of WDW."

You don't like the inherent quality of the OLC parks and that's cool. But I can't complain about the drop in Disney quality in Florida?

And if McDonald's and Puck's and RC and an AMC multiplex don't defind the word ordinary than I just do not know what does.

"DLR's DtD is more effective and has a more attractive tenant lineup but WDW has Cirque, AMC and DisneyQuest for entertainment, Bongo's, HoB and a very good Puck's in the West Side and some fun retail stuff."

Right now, I would agree that the Westide is the best part of WDW's DD. But DQ is very boring to me, maybe I'm too old though, I dunno.

Cirque while wonderful often has trouble attracting the theme park crowd and discounts frequently. That could also be because La Nouba ain't La Newba anymore. I noticed the same phenomenon in Las Vegas recently when I was able to get great seats to Mystere for $60 on the day of the show, a weekend, no less. There's only so many times people will pay to see the same show. This is Orlando. Not NYC.

I love HoB, but it isn't a unique venue at all. They are all over the place. Puck's has gone way down in quality since it opened too. And Bongo's just isn't my thing, but it does well.

"It appeals to tourists hence the huge crowds there from 11am onwards. I prefered the architectural style of the old Village but the stores weren't all that. Why buy Ralph Lauren from Disney when you could get it cheaper elsewhere."

The whole atmosphere of the old village was so much nicer. It was quiet, relaxing, classy, with Disney dining at some wonderful spots on the Empress Lilly. Now, it's just a mega-mall of Disney, really. Wow. A place to buy pins! Look! A Disney toy shop! What's that!? A Disney sports shop! And Goofy's Candy?!??!! You just can't find any of that anywhere else on Disney property.

And while I understand your point about paying Disney prices for designer clothing, you could say the same thing about Disney crappy merchandise. Why pay full price at WoD when you can literally drive a mile and a half and visit Character Premiere Outlet and get the same stuff at 20%-80% off park/DD prices?

And to keep on topic, I do hope that HKDL goes with a different makeup of retail if they build a DD. I'd add some real attractions to the park first, but I know I'm weird in that way.

SuperDry, all you had to do was jump on the JR one stop down to Shin Urayasu and go into the Shopper's Plaza there or walk a block or two to Ito Yokado's shopping mall. It's that simple, and much much cheaper than TDR's overblown prices.

Anyway dude, YES, I still want to email, but I think as you know, I'm not exactly in Australia right now :(.

But you did notice, I didn't get any response above from my best buddy on these boards.

WDW is the cash cow of TWDC parks empire, and you must not harm the cow by casting out reckless aspersions such as mine ;-)

Personally, I feel WDW's DTD is tacky-looking in some areas..and ghetto-looking in others. The only thing redeeming WDW's DTD for me right now is Earl of Sandwish. Other than that... Thumbs down.

DLR's DTD is more appealing and easy on the feet, not to mention more cosmetically beautiful. I wonder what a DTD at TDR would have been like if OLC had not dropped the ball and built something they could fully call their own...

I like that idea too. How about like a version of the WDW-boardwalk but changed (and enlarged) to fit HKDL?
