I've noticed that too & that is so backwards because without us there would be no DW.I as a consumer expect to be treated with respect no matter if it's DW, DL or anywherelse.
That is also our business philosophy no matter if our employees are installing granite counter tops in a multimillion dollar home or a track home counter top those two customers will not be treated any differently at all.I know that some people would not agree with that but I can truly lay my head down at night with a clean conscious.

My wife and I have a specific lagoon view room that we always request when we reserve at the Yacht Club. I was told that when it gets close to the time when the reservations are turned into room assignments that every consideration is given to the people with special requests. I guess the reservation staff has a meeting and assigns the rooms. It's been three times that we have requested a specific room number and each time we were told that while it couldn't be guaranteed, every attempt to accomadate us would be made. We have always had this request honored.

I know your situation is different since you were told that the extra $ you paid would guarantee you the bunk beds, but i think you'll be pleasantly suprised and get your request fulfilled. I have gone as far as to call 3-4 days ahead of my trip reiterate my requests even though I had made it at reservation time.

The point i'm trying to make here is that WDW has always honored my request for this specific room even though I had no more right to the room tham anyone else, so I'm pretty confident that knowing that you were told that you were paying for bunkbeds that this will be taken into consideration when the rooms are allocated.

After all this, you'll have to let us know how you make out.

We have called WL before our trip before to confirm our special requests in the past and things have worked out.

I believe the situation at the Wilderness Lodge is this (correct me if I'm wrong):

All bunk bed rooms have forest view.
Not all forest view rooms have bunk beads.
If you want a bunk bed you will need to pay for a forest view room.
Paying for a forest view room will not guarantee you a bunk bed.

For whatever reason, that message apparently did not get conveyed.

If you want to be GUARANTEED bunk beds you should check out a Wilderness Cabin at Fort Wilderness. They have a full bed and bunk beds in the bedroom and a queen sized Murphy bed that folds down in the living room. They also have a fully equipped kitchen. They are a much nicer accommodation in my opinion, and they would probably cost less that what you are paying for the Wilderness Lodge.

Told me the people at Disney Travel do not know what they are talking about and assured me I was guaranteed a bunk bed. She said the travel number persons screen shows then as a request as that is the noly way they can key it in, but since Guest Relations made my reservations they have a way too and did gurantee me a bunk bed room as it notes with them that is the reason I agreed to pay extra. She said the travel service has no authority to make special deals other than what's on their screen for a variety of reasons she did not go into. I assume they are contractual but who knows. She used an example if one has a medical condition that requires a handicap access room or another thing like No bunkbeds etc., Guest Relations will gurantee it but the first responder on the travel line will tell you it's only a request as that is what their screen says. So problem solved. She confirmed that I was going to pay for the standard room but was asked what would get me to pay for a higher priced room and I said bunkbeds, so even if there is an unexpected problem the hotel will know that's what I agreed to pay the higher rate for and I will be refunded that portion or another accomodation made. All very reasonable.

They really should address this, most people I know will CALMLY take their business elsewhere when talked to that way Disney or no Disney. Once and and my friends have gotten aggravated and spoked to the hotel on arrival or guest relations, problems seem to get solved almosty immediately. But the type of problems I and others have encountered are very elementary and shuold not happen. I am talking about things like bad info on room vacancies, what is available, info that resulted in unexpected reservation cancellations due to non-payment, etc. Serious stuff. I don;t know that many people who go to Disney, maybe 7 or 8 families and all but 2 have had problems caused by the travel people that made then fret or angry, etc. That's a high percentage.

As Ive said in another post, I believe reservationists need more training and knowledge about this service that theyre selling or else theyre usually not vey good salespeople!

But it is usually written down as a UNGUARANTEED REQUEST ONLY when you request special arrangements regarding your room. Like I said befoe, calling the hotel itself is best in this situation.

I know what its like when Disney messes up reservations though. Once we found out we were going to be in a Garden Wing at Contemp instead of the tower we said we wanted on the phone (completely different room category). Disney did not have any tower rooms left, so they sent us to the Grand Floridian AND gave us $60 credit!

Quite a few times I have called and have had to change my address with them each time, because for some reason, my new address was never saved properly.

My point is, there are a lot of flaws in the Disney Reservation system, but fulfilling special room requests has never been one of them. It is just fact that they can not guarantee you these all the time (unless you talk to the actual hotel, they can help you out a lot more!)

I then called the resort five days before I got to WDW ( as Disney Resevations requested ) to remind the resort of my request. I got to the resort and they had never acted on my request which I thought was understandable as you never know what room your going to end up with.
I think trying to get a room with bunkbeds should be possible with Disney. I have no idea why they can't guarentee a room with bunkbeds.

I am sincerely sorry that your request was not handled in a sincere and pleasant manner. Often, specific room requests cannot be processed/accomodated until a few days before your arrival. Below is the fax number for Wilderness Lodge
    (407)824-3232
I hope they can accomodate your requests.
