I disagree with your assumption that safety measures are lax at Disney by both Florida safety depts and Disney safety depts... My one opinion is the same as yours... and Like you im sticking to it...

I don't care what the reason is you are on a plane, the impact on ones body is similar -- therefore I fail to see how you can call that ridiculous.

I don't want to think that but I cannot wrap my brain around any other explanation. Like I said, the experience is awesome and it might be just as awesome if it were toned down just a little. If you have never been on a space shuttle 2 "G's" might seem just as realistic, or maybe even less. It is too well thought out and creative attraction to abandon but a little tweaking may be in order so everyone can ride it without fear.

I've said that many times before. "I post all the time on the front page (three times last week) and I know the streets there better than the cape so I'm sorry that 90% of the business people on the ground AGREE with and have convinced me that the Os is negative anent the mouse." I haven't been to Cape Cod in 15 years. And it sure didn't appear dirty to me. But a part of Mass. is a whole lot different than a theme park. "It seems you protesteth too much?? Just a thought I have with your post? You sound angry and defensive. I'm mellow, alone, with the fam out and about and stoked city so I have NO ax to grind at all." You can think whatever you please. I am angry about the drop of standards at WDW as a DisneyLuver, stockholder and local resident. I'm not, however, defensive because I'm quite comfortable in the knowledge I possess. "Leemac--You're a local right? Tell poor Luv about the Sentinel." Leemac is not a local. Unless you consider the UK local. And I really don't want to take a swipe at him because we've been agreeing on a lot and discussing things in a civil, enjoyable manner, so all I'll say is that Lee has friends that work for Disney and probably don't like anything written about the Mouse that isn't positive and that can't help but wear off on him. "ONE e.g of where I'm getting it I know say 100 business people (not counting Buddy Dyer-who I e-mail and support- and pols like that) --mostly real estate people, bankers, suits, etc. Well Luv --around 90 as in 90% have convinced me that the OS is anti disney or at least "spins" that way. Capecodjoe, I don't doubt that 90 of 100 business people you claim to know or have talked to would say the Sentinel is biased against Disney. They're business people and politicos, they know where their bread is buttered. Anything that paints any large company with ties to Central Fla. in a bad light wouldn't make them happy. They're inherently biased against fair coverage. And the Sentinel for years has been one of the most conservative (i.e pro-business newspapers in this country). It shocked me when they came out in favor of Kerry in the last election because they are a bastion of right-wing ideals on their editorial page and board. And sorry but your one year of reading the Sentinel doesn't equate to my decades of having it dropped on my porch. If I'm reading your posts here right, you're basically a parttime resident/real estate speculator with no longterm ties to the area. My roots run deep. "P.S. LUV--Buddy is the mayor in Orlando who turned the entire downtown area around as well as the whole city and he went to Brown University in the 80's when my wife's father was the registrar there so tell me examples of how it's not anti-disney?" You think I need to be told who Buddy Dyer is?! Name-dropping doesn't impress me much. There are plenty of names with a helluva lot more power than Buddy that I know, but I have no intention of placing their names, and how I know them, here. It's of zero importance what a politician like Dyer thinks of the Sentinel's coverage of anything.

I can think of numerous cases where the Sentinel has published drivel or nonsense about WDW or tried to paint it negatively. I loved the "study" last weekend about police issuing more tickets on WDW roads. The fact that they either chose not to cover the Everest opening or weren't invited speaks volumes to me. I was amazed checking the paper last weekend that there wasn't a single word. I suspect a large part of my dislike for the newspaper is the lack of international reporting. It just feels so provincial to me and that is surprising considering a large number of their stories are sourced from the likes of AP, LA Times and Washington Post. Also the "decision" by Scott Powers (if it really was him) to post on the Everest lap bar topic on here just reinforced what an unprofessional organisation they really are.

"I loved the "study" last weekend about police issuing more tickets on WDW roads." It's true. What's your problem with it? Disney's roads aren't the safest and they finally did the responsible thing in asking local authorities to come in and have more of a presence. I don't see how this is Disney-bashing. It's fact. 20 years ago you'd never see ONE police car anywhere on property. You might see FHP parked where 192 and World Drive meet on busy egress periods. A truly negative piece would be if they tracked cars on property and then went after the CMs individually. "The fact that they either chose not to cover the Everest opening or weren't invited speaks volumes to me. I was amazed checking the paper last weekend that there wasn't a single word." They have written plenty about Everest since it was announced. I don't recall reading one negative word. Whether or not they were invited to a giant cocktail party really doesn't matter. And I'm reasonably sure they were. "I suspect a large part of my dislike for the newspaper is the lack of international reporting. It still has the feeling of a small-town paper it had 25 years ago. It hasn't grown up to meet the times. "Also the "decision" by Scott Powers (if it really was him) to post on the Everest lap bar topic on here just reinforced what an unprofessional organisation they really are." Hmmm...I didn't recall you being in that thread but maybe I missed something. I don't think their tourism writer should be a regular poster on a fan site, but if he was just trying to get the story out that a very minor incident did happen, I don't have a problem with it at all. Let's be realistic. These sites are quite powerful nowaways in getting stories out, sometimes you even have posted stuff here before it's been released by TWDC. Reporters troll these boards. That's a fact. I have no doubt that someone from the Sentinel does, whether it's Powers or someone else.

I don't recall seeing that in the Sentinel (but I may have missed it I guess). Those announcements by Jay were significantly more important than opening the attraction (and took longer). I didn't read a review of Everest too I should say. They gave it a good one, did they?

I wasn't in town the whole week Everest opened. Came back last Monday, so I didn't see the Sentinel those days, but I read it online and could have sworn I saw something. And I agree, the wildlife grants were more important than the attraction opening. "I didn't read a review of Everest too I should say. They gave it a good one, did they?" I know their columnist gave it a very good review. But that was when it was in soft openings. Don't know whether they did another, but I think they may have in their Calendar section.

It would have been in our Headlines I guess. I tend not to sure the Sentinel's website as I don't find it very user-friendly.

It is a flawless E-ticket (especially now that WDI have made the stupid bird disappear whilst you are holding for the first track switch!). I just realised that I'm adding to the post count without discussing M:S's safety issues.
