As for taking responsibilty, I haven't seen anyone say that they are shrugging any responsibilty for knowing their own health condition. It's "common" to see otherwise healthy-looking people to die from unknown medical conitions... for instance, I think everyone has seen or read about an athlete who collapsed and died. I am just saying there is no blame to lay... it's merely a tragedy.

I know many people think that a child's body hasn't developed enough at that point, but I don't happen to hold that same belief. Height requirement aside, I wouldn't take an infant on an attraction like M:S, but I wouldn't hesitate to take a healthy 4-year-old.

Let's all go back to the topics that truly make a difference in this world, like: "UGH! 2 more supid pixar rides for WDW" "TOT: Which shaft is the best?" "Are you ready for the Spring Bunny?" "BUSH HAS GOT TO GO!!!!!" "Katie jumps ship to CBS" "Air Supply (remember them?)" "I had my first Dole Whip!" If we eliminated every unproductive discussion this site as well as the internet itself might implode.

And I understand that anyone can be hurt at anytime, anywhere. But I choose not to ride M:S. I don't think it's worth the risk. And that's the whole point. Riding an attraction at WDW shouldn't have the kind of risks that M:S has.

The fact is that two people have died whether it's an underlying health condition or the ride. May they rest in peace.

And I understand about waiting to determine the cause of death. But, it's one of those things that makes you go Hmmmmm.....(insert song track).

Maybe a doctor's release that you have been "pre-tripped" and cleared for themepark activity is next? I became ill on the WDW Space Mountain several years ago in my thirties. I suffer from migraines, and the ride triggered an episode with nausea. I still ride everything at DL and plan to ride MS at least once in June. I do carry meds for a migraine attack now. If, I have eaten one too many Big Macs and the ol' ticker shuts down and the good Lord needs me upstairs, then so be it! If, I knowingly have a pre-existing condition that was life-threatening, then NO I do not ride. But, I do not NOT sleep, drive, fly, run, eat, drink, experience life because people die or get hurt doing all those activities. Remember the Reason For The Season! Good Friday and Easter!
Originally Posted By demderedoseguys >I just know, when I go to WDW, I don't want to wonder "Should I be riding this ride? Is it safe?"< The ride has proven to be safe. What people have to evaluate is whether or not the effects of the ride will be detrimental to their health. I have experienced MS 3 times, with the last two making me feel queasy the rest of the day. I will not go on again, not because I think the ride is unsafe, but because it ruins the rest of my day.

I sometimes live vicariously through others. <<I just know, when I go to WDW, I don't want to wonder "Should I be riding this ride? Is it safe?">> Absolutely, I am right with you on this one. Certain rides scare me even if there weren't any casualties or accidents relating to that ride.
