Yeah, if you're taking off when a big water effect goes off you might get wet, but you'd know that going in. Otherwise, I don't see why they'd have to close it, and that's a big attraction to have closed too much of the night. The Maliboomer and MM seem far enough away from the lagoon to not be affected, and of course TSMM wouldn't be either. But I think they should try to find some way to keep Screamin' open. If they only close the FW, GZ and OS, that's kind of like closing the FaL rides during Believe - not so bad, and not a biggie even to close them twice for two shows.

I don't think that there will be much (if any) in the way of pryotechnics in the show, so I don't really see how closing the attractions would keep guests any safer. There could be the water issue (200ft tall jet + strong wind = wet guests), but I don't think that keeping guests off the coaster will keep them away from the edge of the lagoon where they would get wet anyway. If it is a matter of them not wanting the attractions to take away from the show, I could see them trying to close them at first. If there are still a lot of people who want to ride them during the show, they might change their mind and open them after a few weeks. Splash Mountian stays open during Fantasmic!, adn the lights stay on (including the flash for the photo on the drop), which can be a little distracting depending where you're watching from (near the Riverbelle/Golden Horseshoe are it's pretty bad). If the attractions are directly in the background of from the main veiw, I could see why they might not want to have them running. Splash rarely has any line during F! (I've ridden in a log by myself with no wait during that time), so maybe it won't be an issue for the crowds in DCA either.

Based upon how close all the WOC stuff is to the seating area alone, and especially the new walkway extension or whatever that new edge is that they are building even closer to the WOC stuff, I'm sure that folks watching the show in sanctioned seating areas will get as wet or wetter than anyone riding one of the nearby attractions. My biggest concern is that WOC might be too wet to watch comfortably in the colder part of the year, and maybe any other time of the year, also. That lagoon is awfully cramped for 200 foot tall water spouts. But we'll all just have to wait and see... Other thoughts: • Since WOC supposedly will have limited pyro, and probably no human actors, it will probably be very easy to run more than one show a night. Whether they do that or not will be based on scheduling, staging, and crowd control issues more than anything else. • If the DLR were to set a cut-off time after which park hopping were not allowed each night, there would be a nightly flood of people lining up to get into Disneyland each night no matter how good and popular DCA ever becomes. WOC or no WOC.

You guys have misunderstood my strange attempt at a little humor. Remember when before DCA opened the suits were talking about how DCA was going to be so darned popular that they would have to close the gates when they reached capacity and send the disappointed guests over to Disneyland? Remember? I was just asking (tongue in cheek) if that was actually going to happen now.

Originally Posted By Hans Reinhardt "You guys have misunderstood my strange attempt at a little humor." I didn't misunderstand it. I can actually see such a thing happening if this show turns out to be a huge draw and has an emotional connection with viewers. I'm imagining that by the time Carsland is finished DCA should be operating at or near capacity during the summer and holidays, making it very likely that there could be days when the park has to turn guests away. I'm not saying it will happen, but given what's in the pipeline it seems reasonable to think it could.
Originally Posted By FerretAfros "Based upon how close all the WOC stuff is to the seating area alone..." I had thought about that too. I'm just guessing, but I would assume that the big jets will be near the center of the lagoon, and the stuff closer to the edges will be a lot smaller. Still, there's a lot of stuff really close to where guests are sitting, so I would expect to get at least a little damp watching the show. Probably not Splash Mountain bad, but at least Pirates level. I suspect there will be a lot of random mist droplets floating around in the air that could make it a little chilly certain times of year (same as F! near the river's edge)
