I know you meant your post as a joke but, imho, what alex described are the beginnings of a classic domestic violence situation (where both of them are taking turns being victim/abuser) and it makes me cringe to have somebody joke about it.

I wonder if there are any public resources, other than police, that could be called in such a situation.

An additional suggestion, after you call the cops, if nothing changes (which is apparently what's happened before), you might try to find out how to contact the building *owner.* If the manager isn't getting involved... the owner may be able to force her to move, since she's probably not on the lease. I'd make sure the owner knows just what a public nuisance this woman is, as well.

Good luck, this sounds like a crummy situation.

Maybe the cops don't know about the lady next door Alex.. so if like they are alerted to the situation maybe they will be more helpful than just the landlord. Disturbing the Peace and Domestic Family Disturbance are both on the 'open crime calls' list for a reason.. good luck ok?

You work hard to have a roof over your head and deserve a restful night just as much as the next person.

Also just curious: is the lady waking you up from 'night terrors' or because of domestic abuse.. she might need some ambian... though I'm not a doctor of course. There's a big difference between the two and while that's not your problem, it might be for the guy who lives next door if he gets hauled away for no reason.
