Disney has to think of the seniors who are bringing their young grandchildren.
I love WDW but am not a fan of that many thrill rides.
Cedar point and Kings Island are the places to go for that kind of entertainment.

Because the Dark Ride isn't meeting their guest satisfaction/use quota. Disney also gets complaints from not having enough thrill rides.

So you close the one not doing anything and re-open as something hopefully people will want to ride.

I'm pretty sure SWSA isn't the only dark ride left. There is still plenty of non thrill rides in MK

I think what guests are clamoring for Tasha is more stuff for boys. An attraction based on the Seven Dwarfs devoid of princess Snow White provides that. Having Snow White in the new meet and greet area is a decent compromise I think.

As vbdad put it, after 22 years Disney is finally replacing an attraction. Yes, I'm grateful that finally that area is going to be reincorporated with Fantasyland. OK, I guess not everyone can fit in restaurant in Cinderella's castle. Disney isn't making the castle any larger. So, adding a substitute is a good thing. I approve of the little Mermaid ride. I had watched some of the ( concept ) ride system and do think that it would have been really kewl if they had built it had the ride system of the Peter Pan ride and you "plunged" into the water for the undersea portion of the ride. Based on the videos of DCA's version, I don't think anyone is going to be disappointed with the final ride thought. What I think is that everyone is going to wish that ride was longer.
I also think that it is going to have everyone thinking how much the preexisting Fantasyland rides are so outdated. Very similar to how Soaring blows away every simulator ride on Disney property. And just leaves guests wanting MORE!!!! There are a lot fo things Disney is doing right about the Little Mermaid ride..... I like the fact it's going to be an omnimover. It will gobble up guests by the thousands!
It would be really great is Disney did the same for Snow White. Ditch the mine train roller coaster ( they are going to have one immediately next door with Goofy's Barnstormer rebranded anyway). Or put an Alice in Wonderland ride in. Disney isn't going to ever going to get the reputation of being a "coaster park". And placing coaster after coaster in Fantasyland isn't the place to do it.

Maybe what troubles me is that everyone is so busy trying to reinvent the box that they can't think outside the Walt Disney World railroad tracks. Come on guys! There is so much more land left to explore! If only the Disney Company put the same amount of effort into their parks as they put into DVCs and family suite resort.

The proposed Dwarf's Mine Train ride will be a tame coaster. My point is they will already have a tame coaster next door with Goofy's Barnstormer.

Yes, BTMRR is suppose to be a runaway mine train. Personally I always thought the cars on SWSA were suppose to be mine cars any anyway.

I'd say M:S's simulator wipes it's but with Soarin's. M:S is so much more advanced.

And even then, give me Star Tours any day of the week over Soarin'.

<<It would be really great is Disney did the same for Snow White. Ditch the mine train roller coaster ( they are going to have one immediately next door with Goofy's Barnstormer rebranded anyway).>>

Comparing the Seven Dwarfs coaster to the Great Goofini is like comparing an F22 to a biplane. SD will be so much better themed and have show scenes.

<<Or put an Alice in Wonderland ride in. Disney isn't going to ever going to get the reputation of being a "coaster park".>>

They aren't trying to do that. They're trying to make the expansion more appealing to people that aren't 7 year old girls.

And I for one thank them for that.

<<And placing coaster after coaster in Fantasyland isn't the place to do it. >>

There will be 2 coasters. And both of them combined won't equal a quarter of the thrill of a real coaster. Plus the Dwarfs will have show scenes. Very nice show scenes.

<<Some final thoughts. I have always been disappointed that Disney has not built outside the railroad tracks in Fantasyland. Disney has the space to add so much more to their parks for a "true" expansion.>>

You'll never see them expand back that way, and for good reason. That area is the fireworks fallout zone. It would have to close every night during fireworks.

There's a ton of backstage buildings right behind Fantasyland.

If they're gonna go outside the berm, it would be in a different area like Adventureland or Frontierland.

Isn't one of Disney's most iconic coasters, The Matterhorn Bobsleds, in Fantasyland?

If your suggesting that Disney build a Matterhorn Bobsleds coaster in Fantasyland at WDW, I'm all for it!
But, somehow I don't think this is in the works.

Maybe at least they'll have a statue of her outside.

Snow White is the reason for Fantasyland's existence. It will be a real shame if she is not represented anywhere in the ride or in the queue.
