I still make peppermint bark for people, too. One year I made a few batches of cinnamon rolls (Cinnabon recipe) and bought little containers to put the frosting in and gave them to people on Xmas eve to have for breakfast the next day. I make panettone as gifts although not as much as I used to. It takes about 6-7 hours to make one batch (3 loaves).

Talking about this stuff makes me feel a little less frazzled about what gifts to make! LOL

One of my absolute favorites is a little paper doily/clothespin angel with a sparkly gold pipe cleaner halo. And where the angel's face would be is a photo of my then 2yo son with the most mischievous, devilish smile on his little face. It still makes me laugh every year when we pull it out of the box.

I found an afghan pattern that was blocks of filet angels, I've made one for each daughter and each grandchild and I made one for my mom while she was in the hospital for the last time and only finished it the day after she passed. So after everyone gets a pair of handmade Christmas socks I'm going to start angel afghans for my brothers and nieces. But as far as gifts I've received I treasure the things my grandchildren make for me, I have book marks that have leaves and flower petals they collected and their mom pressed. I love pictures they make for me. My younger daughter tyedyed a night shirt for me when she was in high school and I still treasure that, though it is coffee stained and threadbare.

The flood of wonderful memories brought forth was incredible. So many that had just been tucked away in the back of my mind for ages. :)

That way when a movie comes out they can go to see it without worrying about how to afford it. Their only source of income is my Dad's SSD. Mama has to take care of him, so she cannot work out of home either. So for them, this is a great gift. We wrap them in with a pack of cookies, or something else that we know that they like, so they do get a surprise each time too.
